olfactory dysfunction

Olfactory impairment, also known as olfactory dysfunction, is a condition that can affect a person's ability to smell or how they perceive odors. It can be caused by a number of factors, including:

  1. Sinonasal diseases: These can be treated with surgery or corticosteroids.
  2. Viral infections: COVID-19 can cause olfactory dysfunction, including anosmia (loss of smell) and dysosmia (altered perception of smell).
  3. Head injuries: These can cause irreversible neuronal loss that can't be treated.
