Dr. Bisrat Getachew is an ENT
surgeon and academic at Saint Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College,
Ethiopia. His research focuses on improving diagnostic accuracy and management
of otolaryngologic conditions in low-resource settings, with a particular interest
in pediatric ENT, airway disorders, and sleep surgery. He has led and
contributed to multiple clinical and public health projects, including the “Ear
and Hearing Health” initiative in collaboration with CBM, which aims to expand
access to ear and hearing care nationwide. Dr. Getachew also supervises
postgraduate training and is engaged in capacity-building efforts to strengthen
otolaryngology services through research, education, and policy advocacy. He
aspires to establish Ethiopia’s first Pediatric ENT fellowship program to
address the severe shortage of specialists for the country’s 120 million
population. His academic and professional work reflect a commitment to
advancing ENT research and practice in resource-limited environments.
